DataStax wanted to celebrate the 10th anniversary of open source database, Apache Cassandra. Alongside a showcase to the community and a marketing campaign, the company wanted to achieve coverage with key industry titles.
Securing high-profile media interviews and coverage for anniversaries is no mean feat. No-one can say no to an appetising delivery, so decorated cupcakes, inspired by Apache Cassandra, were sent to 10 of the industry’s leading editors and reporters to act as a conversation starter while getting them into the celebratory spirit.
We secured interviews with the team at Datastax to appear in Computer Business Review, JaXenter, The Register and IDG Connect. Influential journalists also tweeted pictures of their cupcake delivery. In addition, an innovative and supporting feature idea led to a dedicated quiz in JaXenter magazine which proved a very successful marketing asset driving a record number of leads to Datastax!
