It has never been easier to set up a website.

Whether you just want sexy, pre-built page templates, or you need the infrastructure to help nurture and convert leads, there are hundreds of platforms offering easy tools to get you started. But just because something is easy, doesn’t mean it is right.

If you were opening a shop and competing for customers on a busy high-street, it’s unlikely you would leave your window display to chance. You would do everything you can to show potential customers who you are, what you are selling, and attract them inside to spend.

In business, your website is your shop window. It is likely to be the first-place potential customers and clients go to find out about you. And it will no doubt be where they determine if you are the best business to help them. But your website must be more than just a shop window.

In today’s world, effective digital marketing is crucial for business success and your website must support, amplify, and anchor all your digital marketing efforts. As a result, it’s crucial you take the time to research and plan before building a new site or refreshing an existing one.

What do you need your website for? Where does it fit in your marketing plan? What do your competitors do? How successful are they? What websites do you like within your industry? Why do you like them?

These are all questions that must be answered before embarking on a website build. But there is so much more to consider if you want your website to be powerful asset in turning prospects into customers.
