The temperature is dropping, towns have switched their lights on and the trees are up in our homes. Christmas is most definitely nearly here.
To get us in the Christmas spirit, we’ve asked our fellow onebiters to vote for their favourite Christmas adverts of 2017. From Asda’s Imaginarium to Debenhams’ Fairy Tale Christmas, there are some truly magical and creative campaigns, but here are our top three:
In third place, we have Marks & Spencer’s Paddington and the Christmas Visitor. M&S rightfully deserves its place in the top three with this year’s charming Christmas advert featuring the nation’s favourite bear. The company never disappoints with its festive campaign and this year is no exception.
The ad shows Paddington saving Christmas as he mistakes a menacing burglar for Santa and helps him return the presents that he has just stolen, (unknown to innocent Paddington), to all the homes in the neighbourhood.
He forces the thief to embrace the spirit of Christmas and captures the gift of giving as he hands over his marmalade sandwich, ultimately pulling at our heartstrings and making us love him even more. A perfect feel good at Christmas time – it’s a thumbs up from us!
Next, our onebiters have chosen Sky Cinema’s Christmas ad as their second favourite. Sky Cinema has captured our hearts with its nostalgic advert showing a 25-year journey between mother and daughter spending their Christmas watching the iconic holiday film, The Sound of Music.
This touching ad shows how important family time is – especially over the festive period – and suggests one of the best ways to enjoy quality time together is to relax with a film.
Sky Cinema has ticked all the boxes for us this year with family values, Christmas traditions and nostalgia.
In first place, this touching advert from the BBC has been branded the best of the year and the onebite team agrees. It gained almost a million views in just two hours of being released so takes the deserving place at the top of our list.
The animated story tells the tale of a girl rehearsing for her school’s Christmas Talent Show while her father is seemingly too distracted by work to show his support. After feeling ignored by her dad, the girl tears up as she gets on stage but he comes to the rescue and the duo perform the routine together. Her dad has been paying attention all along making her very happy and the nation smile with glee.
