5 minutes with… Claire
In between meetings and tallying up the numbers, we caught up with our Finance and Office Manager, Claire, on what makes her tick!
Did you always want to work in marketing?
I actually trained (and later became) a primary school teacher but I decided after a while that it wasn’t for me. After a short stint in an art shop, I eventually ended up working for HMRC, working in the VAT department – they say working there makes you one of the most hated people – haha! Before long I moved into written enquiries and found I enjoyed learning lots of new and different ways of doing things. When a job later came up for a Finance and Office Manager role at onebite, with the promise of additional training, I jumped at the chance and the rest, as they say, is history.
What do you enjoy most about working at onebite?
What is important to me is working for a company where I feel valued and appreciated, so the box is certainly ticked there. The people here are lovely – it’s a nice place to work. There is always much going on and I feel like I’m learning all the time. One thing I really enjoy here is the collaborative nature of the company. As part of this, we share the work that we produce, and I find it fascinating to find out more about the evolution of the work from the thought process through to delivery.
Do you have any adventures planned?
Not in the immediate term, but I do have a general quest to visit any destination where I can view whales – the hump back, in particular, would be fantastic! I forced my family to go on a boat-trip recently to go whale-watching – I’m sure they enjoyed it really…!
And finally, what are the three things that you couldn’t live without?
Aside from family, roast potatoes (I can’t imagine a world without the humble potato), mascara and a good book!
